MommyLoves Miele ovens

MieleSpeedOvenHave you ever heard the saying, “You get what you pay for”?  In the case of ovens, I completely agree!

We remodeled our house in 2009, when my stove top finally gave up two of its four burners – the largest two – and I was ruining all my pans with small, concentrated electric heat coils.  The house was a 13 year old tract home, and we were the original owners who had never done anything to it – no carpets replaced or appliances updated.

When we went to the appliance store, we had intended to follow the recommendations of Consumer Reports, but my wonderful husband pointed at something shiny and futuristic, and asked the salesperson, “What’s That?!”  It turned out to be a built in coffee maker – one that grinds the beans, and makes one cup at a time of coffee, espresso or cappuccino, but that is another story . . . we got that too, by the way.

This introduced us to the brand Miele, a German manufacturer who not only makes great ovens, but also makes the machinery that makes their ovens!

Talk about precision manufacturing!

My favorite is the Speed Oven.  This oven, which is about the size of a microwave, does absolutely amazing things.  It microwaves, convection bakes and even broils.  The best part . . . It can do any two of these things AT THE SAME TIME!  Yes, it will bake and microwave at the same time to speed up cooking.

I love a good baked potato.  This Miele Speed Oven makes 4 large baked potatoes with good, crispy skins in 25 minutes.  Yes, I said 25 minutes!  I use the microwave/convection bake feature, and nuke them while baking them at 400 degrees.  They come out just like they were baked in a regular oven for an hour.  That’s the same product in 25 minutes versus 60 minutes, and I don’t have to wrap them in foil.

Now, don’t let me slight the “regular” oven.  The normal Miele Convection Oven does everything you would expect from a good convection oven . . . with a twist – literally!  This oven also has a great rotisserie function.  You can cook 2 rotisserie chickens at the same time in about 45 minutes.

Can you tell I’m in love with my ovens?!  Can you imagine how happy my family is when MommyLoves to Cook, and has the best tools for the job?!

Okay, home-based Chefs, these ovens are not cheap!  We doubled our appliance budget with the Speed Oven, Convection Oven and built-in coffee maker, but after four years, I have absolutely no regrets!  If you will be in your house more than 5 years, the investment is totally worth it, and the return on your investment in time saved, family satisfaction (as evidenced by the weight gain…see staying healthy category for remedies) and resale value can’t be beat!

(No, I’m not paid by Miele to write this and publish it…I just want to pass on a good thing!)
