Parenting a Day in the Internet

RileyandLegoThe up-and-coming generation born somewhere between the mid 1990’s through about 2012 has been termed “Generation Z” or the “iGeneration.”  My sons are smack in the middle of this generation, so my attention is focused on it’s characteristics, learning environment and future.

No generation in history has had access to as much information and communication as Gen Z.  How the individuals of the iGeneration will use, mold and apply this mass of content will determine their success as adults.  How we parent them will determine the foundation on which they build that success.

This generation of individuals take the vast amount of available data, and the speed at which they can access it for granted.  This access makes the iGeneration prefer a quick answer to long problem solving.

Can you adapt your parenting style and resources as fast as your children are programmed to adapt to their environment?

Will you hinder or promote their flexibility?

This infographic will give you an idea of the difference between the resources you had as a child, and the resources your children have right now.

Going through labor and delivery, caring for a newborn, toddler, husband and home, while hopping around with the help of a walker because I had a cast up to the knee on both legs, I learned a very important lesson... I CAN DO ANYTHING! ...and I'm here to say... YOU CAN TOO! I can't wait to chat!

That’s the thing about the internet. It’s hard to monitor, really.
