Publishing Tools

There are so many tools writers and publishers use to produce their content, wading through them might be HMSPGuideBurstquite confusing for many writers just starting out.  Here are a few of the most popular that we know of, but don’t get stuck on this list.  All you really need is a pen/pencil and paper to write, and an internet connection and email address to self publish!  Go For It!

  • Scrivener ~ A writing, compiling and export software program that let’s you write the way you think, then compile it into whatever form you want, and export for publishing.
  • InDesign ~ A design software from Adobe that let’s you create just about anything, then export it to the proper format for publishing.
  • Word ~ Duh…
  • Pages ~ Mac’s version of Duh…
  • PhotoShop ~ A design software from Adobe that let’s you customize your images and/or book cover.
  • WordPress ~ We can’t talk about publishing tools without touching on marketing, and wordpress is the building block for your author website!
  • BlueHost ~ the hosting service that best supports WordPress!

We will add to/subtract from this list as the market and our needs change, so check back, and contribute if you have other tools that rock for authors!

When I was 8 months pregnant with my second son, I fell and broke both my legs. Going through labor and delivery, caring for a newborn, toddler, husband and home, while hopping around with the help of a walker because I had a cast up to the knee on both legs, I learned a very important lesson... I CAN DO ANYTHING! ...and I'm here to say... YOU CAN TOO! I can't wait to chat!
